Yesterday was the opening day of the Fiskars Village Art & Design Biennale, U-JOINTS - Knots & Knits -exhibiton (and other’s as well). I feel really happy to be part of this amazing event and exhibition. You can read more about it here

I’m very honoured and happy that I was nominated for the New Nordic Designer Award 2021 with my project Pussyeyes and nippleflowers! They’ll announce the winners 14th of March so fingers crossed until then :D
I’m happy and excited to say that I will have two exhibitions next summer. The first will be at Galleria Uusi Kipinä in Lahti (25.5.-12.6.2022) and the second in Asbestos Art Space at Helsinki (21.-31.7-2022). Can’t wait to share some more details later this Spring!

During December 2021 I spent two weeks at AARK residency in Korpo, Finland.
It was wonderful to be there in the calm surroundings and focus on being present. I was able to finally start my new artistic production called “They come in peace”. I even had a small breakthrough with my style and new painting technique. If you want to read more about my stay there check out AARK’s website and their ‘work in progress’ blog.
I’m starting to collect articles etc where my art - and design works are featured. So, here’s Glorian Koti Magazine’s September’s issue where my wall rug Bullseye where featured with other amazing works.
I’m so excited that I finally have my own studio space in Helsinki. So soon if you want to buy some art you can come there directly, I’ll share more info later :) In the meanwhile I’ll try to post all the artworks that are for sale to my Instagram account @matildapalmu There are already some in the highlights.

Unfortunately all the exhibitions for this Autumn were cancelled due to the pandemic. However, I’m already planning new exhibitions. The first exhibition, Otuksia ja muita ihmetyksiä - Creatures and other wonders, is a continuum for my previous solo exhibitions and it explores the same themes: identity, gender and sexuality.
I’m also starting a completely new artistic production called They come in peace and I will have an exhibition of that next Spring. Stay tuned for more info later this Autumn :D
